After Chain of Nightmares
Status Quo
The status of Legacy clans has been disrupted in recent years due to the rise of new Masters and Saints after the Chain of Nightmares, leading to a reshuffling of power where old clans like the Han Li Clan who have declined and lost influence due to the loss of its most promising scion and never managed to produce a Saint, while newer ones rise in influence.[1]
After Humanity's Exodus
Status Quo
The status quo had changed, with only two Great Clans remaining. The House of Night lost its competitive edge due to the lack of a Sovereign; they cannot bring millions of mundane humans into their area of influence and develop their Citadels into prosperous cities. They could not keep up with the exploding number of Awakened, Masters, and Saints the other two Great Clans now commanded. The House of Night was relegated to the role of a supporting player in the great game between Valor and Song.[2]
The government's power had grown in recent years, almost as powerful as the House of Night, with three of the highest tier of Transcendents in its employ and countless Awakened and Masters remaining loyal to the army. However, it was nowhere near the two nascent kingdoms of the Dream Realm, Sword Domain and Song Domain. The war between the two Great Clans had never ended, but the territories of Song and Valor were dangerously close to each other, separated by a perilously dangerous Death Zone. It is also where Sunny had established his Citadel in this strategic region, where his third avatar was currently hunting down anything stupid enough to challenge his rule.[2]
