Guiding Light

A pristine white wood staff with both of its ends encased in polished gold bands. The radiant crystal crowning the top is a high rank soul shard. The staff's ethereal golden glow, which can only be seen by Sunny, is associated with divinity.^[1]

“	Trying to figure out how it works. It's weird... the enchantment doesn't seem to respond to everything. It points to you, Nephis, Effie, and Kai... but not Jet or that person, Mordret. Or Fallen Grace, for that matter. It does respond to Wind Flower, though.	”
― Cassie to about how Guiding Light works, Chapter 1392 Desolation

It is not a tool made to be used by a god, but something gifted to a mortal out of affection. It possessed some mystical qualities and had served the sybils well before they came to the Tomb of Ariel. It is supposed to guide people but after that the staff mostly held symbolic meaning.^[1]

The Guiding Light points to Sunny, Neph, and Effie, but not Jet. It was probably due to Jet doesn't have a True Name. After encountering the Devouring Beast, the Guiding Light only points to Effie, suggesting that corrupted individuals lose their True Name, or it was changed due to their altered nature.^[2]

This divine artifact was supposedly a gift from one of the gods, bestowed to a priestess of their temple in the distant past.^[1]

The message Torment had to deliver was related to Guiding Light. Torment's power blocked the memory, and the seal was removed once they reached Verge. After Cassie used it to activate the Guiding Light, the memory of it was erased from her mind. To whom or to what the True Name belongs to is powerful and can strain the mind and soul even just a few moments.^[3]

• Sunny thought that the discovery of the artifact is "the most anticlimactic discovery of a divine relic ever".^[1]
• The person needs to be polite when asking for a guide to get the sacred staff to work.^[4]
