Erebus Field was one of Antarctica's most prominent cities. It was well-known for its geothermal energy farms, fertile land, and warmth. Even before it became an evacuation center, it had housed tens of millions of people.[2]

Hidden Supply Depot

A hidden supply depot was in a vast underground chamber, rectangular in shape and large enough for several convoys to take shelter inside. It contains rows of pristine military vehicles armed with heavy assault weapons.[3]

The depot was well-lit by powerful light fixtures that had switched on as soon as the gate was unlocked. The ventilation systems were also operational, infusing the underground room with artificially cleaned air.[4]

The resources in this divisional field resupply station are meant to replenish the expended resources of an entire division between battles. It is enough to support the deployment of thousands of soldiers.[4]

There are different types of machines inside such as:[4]

  • Armored personnel carriers, assault vehicles, and light scouts
  • A dozen MWPs, with enough ammunition to load all armaments

Aside from ammunition, there are supplies of food, medicine, spare fuel cells, and pretty much everything the refugees need.[4]

History

The local branch of government was supposed to have the volcano under control. Even if every safety measure they had in place failed, the city had strong defenses in place before it was made into a siege capital, so it didn't have to suffer a catastrophic failure.[2]

After missing for the better half of two months, Goliath emerged from Mount Erebus causing the whole side of the volcano to collapse. It smashed through the city defenses, destroying magma barriers, drain vents, and most contingencies in place. With the perimeter of the siege capital breached, hordes of Nightmare Creatures got inside. The First Army Division was unable to stop the attack, and Davis and his cohort of Irregulars died trying to evacuate civilians.[5]

Trivia

  • Mount Erebus had a volcanic eruption.[2]
