Article contents
Karroch is a beastmaster god from the 89th era. He is unaffiliated and does not belong to any Pantheon[1]. He was the main contributor to the survival Tutorial attended by Jake Thayne, William, Casper, and Jacob during the integration of the 93rd Universe and owes much of his subsequent success directly to Jake and the Malefic Viper.
When describing the importance of beastmasters, Villy says that "if [an] Augur is a guide to the enlightened to find their Paths, a good beastmaster is a guide for beasts."[1]
Physical Appearance
Karroch has a powerful build with profound tusks and long arms. He is stall and slender and considered quite attractive among potential mates.[2]
Background
Karroch was born a lowly troll in the 89th Era on a small planet where he fought for his tribe from birth. At 19, he tamed his first beast and eventually became known as a genius beast tamer. He reached D-grade at 23 and became the youngest elder his tribe had ever seen. He was the tribe chieftain by the time he reached late D-grade at age 51. As chieftain, he took many wives and sired hundreds of children.
At 112, he reached C-grade, an act unheard of in many generations and which made him nearly mythically powerful on his small planet. With this power, he forcefully united his planet. Having conquered every single Ancient Beast, Karroch began to look towards the stars for his next challenge.
Karroch participated in Events created by the System whenever possible to accumulate Records and eventually reached B-grade, but didn't stop there. He conquered droves of other planets and was considered the greatest being his race had ever seen.
In A-grade, Karroch won a difficult system event, beating out millions of other A-grades to establish his position as an apex genius and paving the way to S-grade.
In S-grade, he dove deep into Nevermore, conquering floor after floor as he made allies and grew stronger. He seemed unstoppable until he met one of the true monsters of the S-grade, Brimstone’s Chosen, a powerful S-grade genius who held the Brimstone Hegemon’s true blessing. For the first time ever, Karroch lost to someone many levels below him. The Chosen gleefully slaughtered his beloved beast. He attacked in rage, wounding her and even severing her arm, but he simply could not best her. He was forced to retreat.
Unfortunately, the Chosen was angry at failing to slay him and pursued him relentlessly, intent on finishing the job. While he hid, she found his interplanetary empire and attacked it. Entire planets were destroyed. The Brimstone Hegemon even sent a lesser god to help with the destruction. With a bounty on his head, all Karroch could do was focus on advancement.
Finally, he broke through to divinity, the Brimstone Conglomerate still pursued him. So, he tracked down Brimstone's Chosen, a demigod at that point, cornered her, and gave her the most agonizing death possible, even recording her screams and suffering. It was days before she was allowed to die. Afterwards, her remains were fed to his beasts. Karroch then distributed the recordings. He had no idea that the Brimstone Hegemon had taken his Chosen as his wife.
A Rogue God
After killing the Chosen and distributing the recordings, Karroch knew his next challenge was simply surviving. The Brimstone Hegemon was a great deal more powerful than Karroch. So Karroch needed time for the other god's animosity to decrease. This means he couldn't return to his own realm, as it would mean certain death.
He launched gueurilla attacks on the Hegemon's holdings, hoping to incentivize the removal of the bounties on his head. The Brimstone had always cared more about profits than honor or respect. But he still didn’t know that the Hegemon’s Chosen had been the newly chosen wife of the Brimstone Hegemon nor that she'd possessed a powerful bloodline that the powerful god hoped to pass down to his own heirs.
The Brimstone Hegemon kept up the bounty that ensured Karroch was too busy to benefit from universe integrations or System Events as he was hunted throughout the 90th, 91st, and 92nd Era. Then the 93rd Era arrived.
Integration of the 93rd Universe
At the onset of the 93rd era, Karroch applied to sponsor a tutorial. He was accepted for a single tutorial of 1200 humans from the planet Earth. From the statistics of the tutorial:
Volatility Level: 99.9%
Seed Level for Planet Earth: 99.9%
Record Distribution Level: 99.9%
Customization Level: 0.3%
Karroch discovered that he was the primary sponsor of a chaotic and unpredictable tutorial that would produce the strongest denizens Earth would have to offer, but he would have almost no say in how the tutorial was set up or designed.
A Deal with a Primordial
Prior to the beginning of the tutorial, several Primordials showed interest in Karroch's tutorial. Eversmile and the Holy Mother both indicated interest in participants of the tutorial. Karroch would have to ignore interference within the tutorial to get their desired result. In return, Eversmile would assist Karroch with his troubles with the Brimstone Hegemon.
Jake Thayne
As the sponsor of Jake's tutorial, Karroch could only watch with terror as nothing went the way it was expected, running completely off the rails within the first 24 hours. The careful machinations of many powerful gods were nearly instantly broken by one human surviving when he should have died. Then this vexing human stumbled into a challenge dungeon and returned with the Divine Mark of the Chosen... of the Malefic Viper.
After Eversmile's metal caster killed all the remaining survivor's then provoked his own death at Jake's hands, Jake became Karroch's last remaining hope for system rewards. That hoped seemed to disappear when the only surviving human threw himself into a hopeless battle with the King of the Forest, the strongest final boss of any tutorial on the planet.
But then from the ashes of despair, Karroch finally caught a break when Jake won that impossible battle and became a Progenitor of the 93rd Universe.
Karroch received an assessment of 99.99% and the system determined that he had gone above and beyond expectations. The records from this success allowed Karroch to break through the barrier to the 4th layer of divinity and become an Intermediate God.[2] He also became one of Jake's biggest fans.
Return of the Malefic One
Shortly after returning to the multiverse, the Malefic Viper killed the Brimstone Hegemon and every god under him. This fully freed Karroch, his bounty finally gone and nobody hunting him[1]. Later, the Sky Whale he blessed was chosen to be a member of Earth's World Council.
