A Legacy, also called an Inheritance, is a record of an individual's Path to be passed down to other individuals, typically those of lower grades, to allow them to acquire skills, classes, professions and even Races related to the originator's Path. The classes, professions and skills acquired this way are typically stronger than what one would otherwise get by default, and also allow for more easy advancement as long as one continues to follow a path similar to that of the originator of the legacy. In order to acquire a Legacy, one requires some connection to the originator, like a Blessing or a specially made item designed for passing it on. There are also special rules for inheriting the Legacy of someone who has died, but these rules have not been explained thus far.[1]
Notable examples of Legacies in the story include:
- The Legacy of the Malefic Viper, upon which the Order of the Malefic Viper is based
- The Legacy of Tenlucis, inherited most notably by Caleb Thayne
- The Legacy of Umbra, upon which much of the Court of Shadows is based (most commonly expressed in the Shadow Vault of Umbra skill)
- The Legacy of Kallox, inherited by Neil and his cousin Abby
- Sanguine’s Blood Legacy (Divine) – A Legacy item left behind by the first-ever vampire and the creator of the vampiric race, Sanguine.
- Fang(s) of Man is part of Valdemar’s Legacy. Not sure if it’s a Legacy Skill, though. [2]
Jake has 2 developing Legacies, Path of the Heretic-Blessed and Path of the Primal Hunter. He can already has the Legacy of the Heretic Blessed available for others to acquire. The Legacy of the Primal Hunter will be unlikely to be passed along until Jake reaches a higher grade, possibly Godhood.
