There did not exist a creature with the word dragon in its name that was weak.

Dragons are one of the most famous Mythical Beasts, before and after the System. The subcategories of Dragons include Wyvern, Land Drakes and such other things, but these were not True Dragons. True dragons become such at B-grade.

All dragons were naturally gifted magic users who could perform freeform magic at an incredibly high level, and their race gave them expansive mana pools. Pretty much, they were the perfect mages among the monster race.

Traits of a Dragon

Skills

The word dragon also came with certain expectations. Assumed abilities that one would be correct about, for all dragons had at least two skills.

Dragon's Breath

“
A simple-looking ability that had ended the lives of more would-be geniuses than perhaps any other skill in the history of the multiverse.
— Jake Thayne's internal monologue
”

Dragon's Breath is the unique signature attack of the dragons. All dragons have it and it possesses innate concepts.[2] Dragon’s Breath is a destructive weapon heightened to a concept in itself. The form these breaths took could vary widely. A blue frost dragon would, as expected, spew something ice-related, while the classical red dragons would no doubt release fire. Yet all of these breaths had one thing in common: their unimaginable power. Even weakest Dragon’s Breath ever recorded was of legendary-rarity, which means most were above even that.

When Jake experienced Dragon's Breath while fighting Yrelstromoz, a dragon who specialized in light and healing magic, he described it as seeming like the entire world dimmed around him as the very concept of light was dragged into her maw. The environment felt starved of mana as her throat began to give off a bright light, and her aura turned even more oppressive than ever before.[2] When she released her attack, a stream of pure light shot ou, instantly lighting up the entire planet with the brightest thing Jake had ever seen in his life. Despite his best efforts, it burned through all of Jake's substantial defenses. It felt as if it went on for ages, even though it objectively lasted no longer than a few seconds. Jake was left in immense pain and his body was almost literally barebones limbs.

Dragon Scales

Known as the bane of all magic, these scales would make any mage grit their teeth in anger. More often than not, it would be useless to try and cast magic on a similarly leveled dragon unless you yourself were also a supreme genius. Naturally, the nature of these scales also varied. Many simply provided ridiculous defense and magic nullification, and the scales always resisted magic more effective based on the dragon’s own affinity. That is to say, using frost magic against a blue dragon was double stupid.

Name Usage

"The Stromoz suffix is used to communicate someone is truly a dragon or at least was a true dragon at some point. Us descendants of true dragons are allowed to also have it, so it is truly more about status than anything else." - Helenstromoz Emberflight

Trivia

  • While dragons frown on the hunting of dragons, they are obviously aware of how valuable dragon parts are. They actively capitalize on the demand by infusing scales, blood, or even bones with their own records and selling them.[4]
