A soulbound relic is a special type of artifact with unique properties that differentiate it from ordinary relics. These relics are tied to their master through an affinity, which is fostered by a deliberate and challenging process. This affinity is not merely a test but a necessity for the binding process, as observed in a soulbound relic created by the Demon of Destiny, Nether. These relics are extraordinary because they are capable of growth and change alongside their owners, behaving almost like living beings. This quality reflects Nether's obsession with creating life.[1]

Forging Process

The process of forging such a relic requires extraordinary effort and innovation. In Sunny's case, he is forging a relic with an integrated spellweave to bind it to its master. The spellweave is crafted from strings of soul essence, which are typically destroyed by Nephis' tyrannical soul flame during forging. To resolve this, Sunny ingeniously uses Nephis' own essence to construct the spellweave, ensuring compatibility with her flame and enhancing the affinity of the relic to her. This approach capitalizes on the unique properties of a Saint, whose essence flows freely, making it possible to extract and use her essence in the process.[1]

Trivia

  • The resulting soulbound relic is not only a testament to Sunny's ingenuity but also a reflection of his dedication and meticulous attention to detail. The finished alloy, forged with mystical ice, storied metals, and soul flame, possesses unparalleled qualities, making it suitable for creating a weapon capable of extraordinary feats.[1]
  • There is a limit to how many relics could be bound to a person's soul. For most humans, the limit was one, as a single soul could not accommodate the anchor of more than one weave. For people like Nephis and Sunny, however, the limit was greater, possibly because they were not technically people.[2]
  • A relic bound to a soul became as integral as any part of it, so if the relic was destroyed, the soul would be harmed, perhaps irreparably.[3]
