Mike

Mike and Joanna Elkmann are married with two kids. The couple worked at the same company, along with Jake. Casper, and Jacob. They were both in the work group inside the elevator on the way to lunch when the Tutorial started.^[1] Mike was separated into a different tutorial from Joanna and the majority of his co-workers.

After the Tutorial ended, the citizens of Earth are returned to their origin points, including Mike and all their co-workers to their office building. Desperate for news of Joanna, Mike rushes to Jacob, who has begun rallying survivors. He is distraught when Jacob reveals the catastrophic nature of their tutorial and breaks the news that Joanna did not survive.

While distressed, Mike notices Jake who is standing off to the side wearing the Mask of the Fallen King. It was unclear whether due to the news of Joanna's death or if his nature is normally confrontational, but he chose to challenge Jake for wearing the mask. Having nearly died to earn the mask, Jake counterattacks Mike for only being level 16 after months in the tutorial.^[2] Mike, feeling that no one has the right to question how hard he worked to survive, punches Jake. However, Jake, nearly 50 level higher, simply catches the punch in his fist and then crushes Mike's fingers. Sensing the surrounding crowd growing restless and preparing to turn into a mob, Jacob finally intervenes, separating the two would-be combatants.

Mike at this point had moved to Sanctdomo with his kids. He saw Joanna through a séance performed by Jacob himself. His rebellious kids are skeptical of the Holy Church and refused to get baptized, so he requested the séance to prove the existence of the Holyland^[3] and the ability to be reunited with their mother if they get baptized before dying.
