Panaxeth is the primordial imprisoned (in a pocket dimension made by gods[1][2]) in Cyoria. It is the likely cause of the rank 9 Mana Well in the city, which is the reason Cyoria became so prosperous and important. Panaxeth knows of everything that happens within the time loop, an ability that has not been shown by any other character, but it is in a mostly omniscient way. Ilsa Zileti stated that "In a very real sense, Panaxeth is the time loop"[3]. It doesn't pay much attention to individual actions since they see humans as something so drastically inferior that it'd be like paying attention to the routine of an ant.[4]

Its essence was used to create first shifters by means of a ritual.[1]

Primordials in general, according to Batak, "spawn smaller, weaker primordials in their death throes", and that is the reason why gods imprisoned them rather than killing them[5]. This is shown when Zach, Zorian and temporary loopers breach Panaxeth's prison to create an exit from the time loop: a piece of Panaxeth's body sticks out from the breach, and, after being cut off from the main body, reforms itself into a beast[4].

It is Panaxeth who the Cult of the Dragon Below is trying to release at the night of the summer festival. The leadership of the Cult is secretly hoping to enslave it.[6] The release is by the means of a ritual extracting Panaxeth's essence from shifter children and using it to bridge inside and outside of the prison.[1]

Outside the time loop, Red Robe and former temporary looper Silverlake planned to use Panaxeth's essence from their own bodies (given to them by Panaxeth for that very purpose) as a backup plan in case they lose the shifter children.[7]

Trivia

  • Panaxeth has no gender as a shapeshifting entity, and is referred with it/its pronouns by Zorian, Alanic and Kael, and he/him pronouns by Xvim, Zach, Orissa, Kyron and Ilsa. When it appeared in front of Zorian and the temporary loopers, it adapted a male, female or aranean appearance based on the reactions of the person it was speaking with. [3]
