Shadow Sense is what Sunny calls his passive ability to sense shadows at a certain distance.[1] It was initially mentioned as part of his attribute "Child of Shadows" along with him seeing perfectly in the darkness and allowing him to blend in with the shadows preventing most Awakened from detecting him.[2]

Note: Even when the attribute evolved the passive abilities still remained.

Range

  • The range of his Shadow Sense is bigger than Shadow Step.[3]
  • Shadow sense didn't usually go quite that far unless they were Sunny's own shadows (Invaluable helpers).[4]
  • After Sunny transcended, his shadow sense range expanded just as far as Shadow Control, so over forty kilometers.[5]
  • After ascending to Supreme, every shadow in his Shadow Legion can now act as a vessel for his Shadow Sense, drastically expanding his perception range.[6]

Shadow Weave

Main article: Shadow Weave
Reveal

Upon inheriting Shadow Weave the most immediately noticeable transformation was the evolution of Sunny's shadow sense. Previously, it only allowed him to perceive the shape and depths of surrounding shadows. After inheriting Shadow Weave, he could effortlessly communicate with shadows, learning information about whatever cast them.[7]

This included mundane details such as color, texture, taste, temperature, and moisture, as well as metaphysical information including Rank, Class, and the nature of the object or being itself. Sunny described the experience as though a previously colorless and silent world had suddenly become filled with vibrant colors and sensations.[7]

Trivia

  • Sunny sometimes uses it as a substitute for his normal sight.[8][9][10]
  • After transcendence, Sunny had learnt to control his senses better. He can limit his shadow sense into a narrow beam.[11]
  • Due to attaining Mind Weave after the events from Kingdom of Imagination, this capability was magnified to an entirely new level, letting him process a crushing avalanche of inputs from his shadow sense without being overwhelmed.[12] Note: The improvement was in capacity to process and clarity.
