Shadow Bond is the innate ability of Sunny's Aspect, Shadow Slave. It made it so that Sunny's and his master's soul were considered to be two parts of a single whole, at least when applied to the function of their Aspects.[1]
Ability Description

Rules
- For one to become the master, they must recite it out loud in Sunny's presence.[2]
- After having a master, Shadow Bond became inactive (gray and lifeless) in Sunny's Spell Runes.[3] The runes of the Shadow Bond had turned grey and lifeless, but it had not vanished.[4]
- A divine shadow could only have one master, as long the master remained alive, nobody would be able to use his True Name.[4]
- Sunny's Aspect described him as a divine shadow that had lost its master, implying that he can lose a master and still live.[4]
Extend of Master's Order
In order for Shadow Bond to compel Sunny to action or inaction, he had to be able to execute the master's command. So, if the master wanted to bring the moon to them, he would be forced try his best. Though ordering Sunny to survive won't magically restore his body or heal his wounds.[5]
Other Functions
Beyond its main function, it allowed Sunny to peer into his master's Spell Runes. But same is true for the master as they are able to learn a lot of his as well.[6][7] Aside from that, he and the master can augment each other. Their powers seemed to resonate with each other, making the sum greater than its parts.[8]
Experimenting with the application of the bond, a lot was discovered:
- Both Sunny and his master could be enhanced by his shadows.[8]
- The same augmentation could be done to their Memories, Shadows, and Echoes.[8]
- Sunny can pull his master with him into Shadow Step.[9]
- Sunny couldn't bring other living things through the shadows, but his Aspect had already shown that it treated his master as an extension of him in certain instances, or more accurately, Sunny as an extension of his master. They were connected by Shadow Bond, which meant that their souls were bound together.[9]
