Fate is described as something beyond ordinary universal laws. It was not an absolute law, though. It was something that existed above even the universal rules that governed existence. Unlike universal laws created by the gods, fate had not been created by the gods and instead dwelled on a plane of its own — one higher than all the rest and overlooking them all from up high. Because of this, even the gods had to bow in front of fate and the creatures of the Void did, as well.[1]

Breaking fate is presented as quite an astonishing act of defiance, and Natural Supremacy is tied to this act because there was nothing more defiant than breaking an absolute law. Breaking fate alone was insufficient to attain Supremacy, imposing one's Will upon the world did not matter if the source of that Will was destroyed in the process.[1]

Nature of Fate

The Demon of Fate described fate as an absolute force that cannot be changed, bargained with, or escaped. According to the daemon:[2]

  • Everything that has ever happened, is happening, and will happen is already inscribed in the threads of fate.[2]
  • Fate governs all existence, standing above both the Flame and the Void.[2]
  • Mortals, daemons, gods, and even those dwelling in the Void are all subject to fate.[2]
  • Fate exists beyond the distinction of past and future because it does not recognize time.[2]
  • Rather than being something that is occurring, fate is described as something that has already happened, making it an immutable and inalienable axiom.[2]

Avatar of Fate

Main article: Avatar of Fate

An avatar of fate as the manifestation or personification of fate itself—a living embodiment of inevitability whose existence alone enforces fate, regardless of personal intent.[2]

Paradox of Fate

Main article: Paradox of Fate

The Paradox of Fate was described as the inevitability of the perfectly determined force known as fate eventually giving rise to a being capable of rendering it impossible to determine.[3]

Trivia

  • In Chapter 1561, Cassie and Sunny decided to break fate. (Refer to Cassie's Plan)
