Pylons of Civilization are system-created treasures that allow for the creation and management of settlements in the area around them. Both monsters and enlightened races can benefit from them, needing a nobility title to claim.

Appearance

Pylons are described as transparent floating crystals about the width of a human and a little under 3 meters tall. They are completely weightless when deactivated and immovable while active.

Abilities and Rewards

Upon claiming the Pylon, the owner's aura seeps around the surrounding area. While in this area, the owner gets increased mana regeneration and can vaguely feel when there are intruders in their territory. The Pylon also provides bonuses for Citizens who are within its domain, beginning with a minor increase to experience gain for non-combat related activities and presumably able to be expanded and improved upon from there.

The owner can also obtain the City Lord profession or offer it to someone else with a nobility title. The City Lord gains the Pylon's bonuses as aura-type skills, which seem to be the main avenue for improving and expanding on those effects.

Anyone who touches a Pylon and has a nobility title can attempt to take over the Pylon, receiving a 30-day quest to retain control of the Pylon for that time while having 51% or more of the citizens' support or kill the current owner to become the new owner. At the same time, the current owner will receive the opposite quest, telling them to kill the claimant or force them to surrender in 30 days or lose ownership of the Pylon. This can come with a downgrade of their nobility title, if acquiring that Pylon helped advance them in nobility rank.
