A Transcendent Battle Art is the culmination of one's combat technique, achieved by Saints who wield powers beyond human comprehension. It elevates a battle style to a technique that fits a Saint's newfound powers, making each art unique since all Aspects were unique. The difference between a mundane battle style and a Transcendent Battle Art is enormously vast, reflecting the threshold Saints cross between mortals and deities. Developing such an art involves disassembling the axiomatic principles of a martial style, reshaping or replacing them with new concepts, and building a revolutionary system of practical applications—a revolutionary and individualized combat technique designed for one person alone. This daunting task often requires the talent and resources of an entire Legacy Clan.[3]

The Path of Ascension led to a greater control of soul essence, with Saints able to elevate these basic essence techniques to new heights. This made a comprehensive essence technique an integral part of a transcendent battle art. Each Transcendent warrior had a unique Aspect, so each essence technique had to be tailored for a single user.[1]

An essence technique is an additional layer of physical training designed to enhance every motion effectively and efficiently, tailored to an individual's unique battle style. It requires profound understanding of body functions, combat laws, and one's self to create such a technique.[2]

Saints could control soul essence as naturally as they were breathing and with incredible finesse, selectively enhancing each muscle fiber, nerve cluster, or tendon in their body. Their control, range and manner of enhancements were broader than those of a Master and could be consciously altered. Saints could explosively increase their strength, speed, agility, and resilience if they were smart about using their essence and trained instinctively.[2]

The goal of a transcendent battle art was to integrate the user's Aspect into their combat strategy.[4]
