There are numerous battle styles that exist varying in their specialty like strength, speed, precision, and defense. Some styles emphasized strength and strived to overpower the opponent, some emphasized speed and precision, some emphasized solid defense and waiting for a perfect moment to counterattack.[1]
Some are taught to groups, while others are formed by the talented combatants' personal habits and quirks.[1]
Solid battle styles are created with deep insight, while poor ones lack understanding of the fundamental laws of combat. Practicing a battle style is possible but mastering requires understanding its essence.[1]
Mastery
At higher level, a battle style is not just a set of movements but also a formative philosophy that concerns both the body and mind.[1]
Mastering a battle style requires a certain level of insight into the governing laws of combat, allowing practitioners to freely improvise an actionable response to each situation. The difference between various battle styles lies in their philosophy and dominant intent, which guides the shape and direction of these improvised moves.[1]
Despite mastering both the body and mind, some practitioners still fought with domineering strength, swift precision, patient caution or any other type of guiding intent, making them true masters of combat.[1]
Being a Transcendent, a third layer above the body and mind opened but accessible only to a select few. It was the soul.[1]
Essence Technique
An essence technique is like an additional layer of physical training designed to enhance every motion effectively and efficiently, tailored to an individual's unique battle style. It requires profound understanding of body functions, combat laws, and oneself to create such a technique.[2]
As humans walked the Path of Ascension, their control of soul essence became more intricate, thus the vast chasm between Master and Saint. Masters were skilled in using it to enhance their bodies in combat, but Saints could elevate these techniques to a new level.[1]
