Volume 9: Throne of War
Sunny's Shadow
The first thing she had done after becoming Sunny's Shadow was strike at the walls of his Shadow Core.[1]
Though her movements were initially slow under the weight of resisting his command, she suddenly accelerate beyond imagination. Being a part of Sunny's soul, the Slayer is not seen as an enemy by the silent shadows, which are manifestations of his past victims. This means that Sunny cannot rely on their aid to stop her. Worse still, if she is left unchecked, she could destroy his Shadow Cores, effectively killing him, or massacre the silent shadows to absorb their power and grow even stronger. He managed to subdue her with the aid of Serpent who took on the form of a massive Titan creature Sunny has slain, Defiled Seeker of Truth. With its iron grip, Serpent restrains the Slayer before she can cause further destruction.[1]
To prevent further danger, Sunny imprisoned the Slayer within a cell in the Nameless Temple, a structure in his Soul Sea. Despite her formidable strength, she was unable to break through the iron door or damage the walls of her prison.[1]
Volume 10
Deal
Slayer had been one of Sunny's six Shadows, but unlike the others, she was fiercely independent, murderous, and refused to submit to his will. She possessed a chilling lethality and an intense malice that made her impossible to set free, yet too unique and powerful to destroy.[2]
For over a year, Sunny had kept her imprisoned in a stone cell beneath the ruined cathedral of the Dark City, summoning her every seven days to the lower hall of the Nameless Temple for a brutal and vicious duel. These weekly battles had started as an attempt to communicate, but Slayer had attacked without hesitation, forcing Sunny to engage her with steel rather than words. Despite the pain and damage, he endured—often leaving one of his incarnations in recovery—Sunny continued the practice, learning and growing stronger with each encounter.[2]
In time, Slayer began to show a grudging respect, even a strange sense of kinship. Though she remained defiant, she agreed to a peculiar arrangement: if Sunny defeated her, she would obey him for a week. In return, she demanded payment—not in gold or power, but in his blood. Ever since a few drops had fallen on her and been absorbed during a battle, she had shown an unsettling interest in it, almost as though it made her more alive. Despite the discomfort and pain, Sunny accepted the cost, knowing that gaining even partial control over Slayer was worth it.[2]
