“ In the beginning, there was only the boundless void of chaos... The void was everlasting and everchanging. Terrible beings dwelled within the void, as well. But then came desire, and with it came direction. ”

― Cassie's Narration,
Chapter 1385 Flame of Divinity

Primordial beings are the creatures that existed before time, space, and death, in a boundless dark void. The gods were different from them but also their kin.[1]

Description

Based on the murals inside the ancient temple in Fallen Grace, they were depicted as a vast black field that looked strangely terrifying.[2]

In the dark lake inside the Estuary, these Void Beings were depicted as terrifying giants.[3]

Origin

Reveal
Both these beings and the gods had been born from the void. Therefore, the gods were unknown themselves — primordial beings from before humans existed. They were a special kind of ancient abomination that was inherently opposed to the abyss that spawned them and everything it represented.[4]

Trivia

  • It is one of the unknowns in the novel that the Nightmare Spell refuse to translate.
  • Possibly the progenitor of daemons is also a primordial being.[5]
