Heart of Kanakht

The Heart of Kanakht was both tangible and intangible. The sand comprising his body never phased through the walls, penetrating through cracks and gaps in a mundane way.^[4]

The Great Devil's chest revealed a black human heart, the Heart of Kanakht, as a manifestation of his sinister will. Kanakht was indeed a cursed king whose body had been cut apart and scattered to prevent him from coming back to life, the Great Devil's true core might be one of his body parts. The wraith was a manifestation of this will, while the sand body protected it.^[2]

The cursed king's remnant commanded the souls of the dead and wielded the power of curses. He was a wraith with a body made of sand and was nearly impervious to physical damage. His soul cannot be destroyed until all the souls he commanded were scattered, which was a legion.^[1]

The haze of screaming souls from the devil was a soul attack. The specters were not actual beings, but instead parts of the Great Devil.^[5]

There is a strange burial custom in the Western Quadrant where ancient humans prepared their dead by removing all the organs from the bodies before placing them in opulent tombs. There was even a legend about a god whose body was cut apart and then assembled back together, bringing him back to life.^[4]

Cassie hinted that the Great Devil was the remnant of a cursed king and that parts were kept apart to prevent him from coming back to life.^[4]

• The Heart of Kanakht, despite being a bad match for Jet's Aspect, was a perfect match for her Legacy Relic. Absorbing his soul would increase its power by two Tiers and grant a powerful effect on one of the mist blade's forms, potentially synergizing with her Aspect.^[1]
• Jet received an hourglass Memory after it was slayed.^[2]
• According to Eurys, the Shadow God cursed individuals like him, Azarax, Kanakht, and a few others. They were banished from death, unable to die.^[6]
• The bound soul of the Heart of Kanakht (in the Mist Blade) granted Jet the ability to freeze time for a single heartbeat as the Spell described. However, it is more accurate to say that she would be able to move in the frozen time for a single moment. A significant limitation of the ability is tied to the Will of the enemy as they can partially or fully resist the time-freezing effect, allowing them to move or react within the supposedly frozen moment.^[7] (More information in Jet's Aspect Legacy)
