At a glance · Evening Star
Evening Star is a Charm Memory crafted by Sunny inside Ariel's Game.[1]
Description
Function
Its primary purpose is to grant its master an abundance of power—not limited to physical strength, mental fortitude, soul potency, or willpower, but power in all its shapes and forms. The enchantment is meant to make the wielder more powerful overall, rather than improving one specific attribute.[3]
Usage
The Evening Star is further empowered when combined with the Jade Mantle. This armor possesses the Underworld Armament trait, which enhances the effects of any Memory or charm slotted into it. As a result, the Evening Star becomes even more potent while worn in conjunction with the Jade Mantle, especially in dark surroundings.[3]
After its creation, Sunny manifested his Jade Mantle and placed the Evening Star into its center. The Memory was then absorbed seamlessly into the armor, disappearing from sight. This act "slotted" the Sacred Memory into his Underworld Armament, integrating its power with his own. When he poured his essence and Will into the Evening Star, Sunny felt a subtle but noticeable surge of power flow through his limbs.[2]
Limitation
It includes a conditional limitation that greatly empowers its effect when specific conditions are met—an idea Sunny borrowed from the Sin of Solace, and similar to the Crown of Twilight's essence replenishing power at dusk and dawn.[1]
To make the spellweave more potent, Sunny placed an artificial limitation: the potency of the Evening Star depended on how bright the world around it was. It is almost useless when surrounded by radiance and light. However, as the surroundings grow darker, its power grows exponentially, reaching full strength in complete darkness. This limitation paradoxically allowed the enchantment to bend the laws of existence more drastically, by channeling its effect in a focused and controlled way.[3]
Creation
The Evening Star is the first Sacred Memory created by Sunny. Unlike lesser Memories, Sacred Memories are immensely powerful artifacts capable of interfering with causality and bending the laws of existence, similar to the powers wielded by deities. However, such Memories are not sentient—they possess no will or intent of their own. As a result, their potential can only be realized when fueled by the soul essence, spirit essence, and most importantly, the Will of their master. This makes the Evening Star highly dependent on its user's inner strength, meaning that not just anyone can wield it to its full extent.[2]
Conceptual Design
Unlike traditional enchantments that rely on sorcerous principles, the Evening Star is based purely on conceptual design. Sunny wove the spellweave not by defining paths and mechanisms of its enchantment, but by embedding the very concepts of "abundance" and "power" into the Memory. This approach mirrors how Sacred beings exert their influence on reality: the effect manifests first, and the cause follows. The spellweave doesn't function by conventional logic but by reshaping the world to support its desired outcome.[3]
The design of the Evening Star makes it especially effective in prolonged confrontations.[3]
Trivia
- It was meant to be a powerful charm for Shadow Saint, who had lacked a suitable charm for her Underworld Armament for a long time.[1]
- It was made from the golden amber of the Axis Tree combined with three Sacred soul shards.[1]
- The Sacred soul shards enable the Evening Star to support a very intricate and sophisticated enchantment, more complex than most Sunny has created before, and still far from reaching their full potential.[1]
- Due to time constraints, Sunny devised ingenious simplifications in the enchantment's design to speed up the weaving process without sacrificing complexity.[1]
