Domain Skills are powerful Skills found throughout the multiverse, known for creating or manifesting a personal “domain” that strongly benefits the user. Despite being considered rare and high-end, they appear with surprising frequency in places where powerful Legacies are common, making them expected within certain factions. While all Domain Skills share a basic defining function, they can differ massively in execution, nature, and complexity.

At their heart, Domain Skills all do one thing:

They generate a separate space or manifestation that gives the user a substantial advantage over their opponents.

Everything beyond that can vary. Some domains resemble physical spaces pulled from somewhere else, while others exist only as temporary constructs created through the user’s own power. Two people may have Domain Skills that look similar, yet behave completely differently. In most cases, no two domains skills are ever exactly alike.

Complete Domains vs. Domain-Like Abilities

A common point of confusion lies in distinguishing Complete Domain Skills from abilities that merely create a advantageous territory.

Complete Domain Skills

These are the true versions of the ability:

  • They create a separate space with a defined boundary.
  • Opponents must forcibly enter, usually through an application of their willpower.
  • Exiting the domain is much harder than entering.
  • The domain exists only as long as the user maintains it.
  • Each one is wholly unique to its user.

Territorial Abilities

Some skills look like Domain Skills but aren’t:

  • They alter the environment rather than creating a new space (i.e Pride of the Malefic Viper, Rain of the Sword Saint).
  • The affected area can be entered or exited simply by walking.
  • They warp or influence the local world without transporting anyone.

These abilities offer powerful environmental control but lack the separation and confinement that define a Complete Domain Skill.

The Shadow Realm

The Shadow Realm, used by higher grade assassins from the Court of Shadows, is one of the more unique Domain Skills. Unlike most domains, the Shadow Realm exists independently, functioning as a separate plane that assassins can enter or drag others into.

It breaks several rules:

  • It has no detectable boundary.
  • It isn't tied directly to a single user’s power.

Its main purpose is simple:

Trap the target in a space from which escape is nearly impossible. Compared to other domains, it offers fewer direct combat advantages, but its utility in assassination and confinement is nearly unparalleled.

Legacy Domain Skills

Throughout the multiverse, many factions possess Domain Skills passed down or refined through powerful Legacies. Some well-known examples include:

  • Valhal, famous for battle-oriented domains that shape battlefields to their advantage. (Sacred Battefield is likely the early version of this)
  • Court of Shadows, wielding the infamous Shadow Realm.

Even when these legacy domains appear similar, they remain personal to the user, dependent on their power and intent rather than representing fixed, permanent locations.

Entering and Exiting Domains

Travel mechanics in Domain Skills vary, but a consistent rule applies:

  • Entering a domain is usually straightforward and requires only the willpower to push through its boundary.
  • Exiting a domain is far more difficult. Most boundaries resist escape, and leaving typically requires overpowering the domain’s structure itself or defeating its creator.

Known Domain Skills

Necropolis of Loss - Casper's Complete Domain Skill. It manifests as a haunting graveyard shrouded in dense, curse-soaked fog, filled with countless wooden grave markers that leak powerful blight energy into the air. At its center stands a towering wooden stake carved with screaming faces that weep black liquid, saturating the ground in corruption. Within this bleak domain, Casper kneels impaled by dozens of curse stakes that pulse with energy, fueling the environment and unleashing faceless spectres that vagueguly resemble Lyra, rise from the soil to overwhelm intruders.[1]
