House

There are certain families who have held greater wealth, power, and magical ability for generations. Some of them are officially recognized as Houses. A House usually enjoys some autonomy and special privileges^[1]. In Eldemar, Houses which hold a seat on the Council of Elders are known as Noble Houses. Houses still hold the most political sway, but their influence is waning due to the magical knowledge being relatively freely available through magical schools and libraries that are open to the public.
