Temple of the Nightmare Spell is the temple created for Nightmare Spell by followers of Weaver inside the Tomb of Ariel.[1]

Description

The Temple of the Nightmare Spell looked frightening and sinister on the outside, but quietly beautiful inside. Inside was a vast hall shrouded in darkness that evokes a solemn atmosphere with its intricate tapestry of falling light that resembled the inner workings of the Spell and the darkness of the vast hall created a mysterious void between dream and reality.[1]

There are also white tapestries of enormous spiderwebs growing freely between the columns and support beams.[1]

In the center of the hall was a roughly cut stone mass resembling a broken wide pillar, devastated and then damaged by unbearable heat, as its upper part was deformed like a melted candle. The stone is covered in engravings, with only one remaining. It depicted an enormous gate, wrapped in unbreakable chains. In front of it, features a tall figure hidden in a dark mantle and a face of a fearsome demon mask. The mask had ferocious fangs and a crown of three twisting horns.[1]

The column, brought by the elders of Ananke into the Tomb of Ariel, is one of the greatest relics of Weaver. The mural depicts the deeds of Weaver, from birth to the bestowal of the Nightmare Spell and the inception of the idea of the Nightmare Spell.[2]

According to the legends, after the gods sealed the primordial void, Weaver was the only one of those who had entered the eternal abyss and managed to return alive.[2]

The gods had sealed the eternal void, from which they were born. The unknown were creatures of that void, while the Unknown was a specific being that had somehow given life to the seven daemons. The reflection of either was forever frozen in the depths of Weaver's eyes.[2]

Trivia

  • Weaver had no desire to be worshiped as it was futile as fate would remain uncaring and inevitable, regardless of one's virtuous efforts. So instead, followers of Weaver created temple for Nightmare Spell. The gift Weaver has given to humans rely on instead of the gods, the daemons, and of fate itself.[1]
  • No one knows what the Demon of Fate looks like, but they were often depicted as a spider. Due to that, spiders were considered sacred to the followers of Weaver. It was forbidden to harm the spiders or its web.[1]
