This bad boy can fit so many fucking toxins in it. The alchemist can, through this enhance [Palate of Malefic Viper], even possibly its rarity. While also vastly increasing their innate knowledge of many different toxins and herbs, naturally, which is undoubtedly a huge help on their path. Of course, actually absorbing all of that isn't easy. Hence why it is considered a Trial.

—The Malefic Viper, to Jake Thayne

A barrel filled with herbs and toxins. This is one of the challenges Alchemists in the Order of the Malefic Viper take to upgrade their Palate skills. The Viper describes the trial as wildly painful, requiring the participant to focus on absorbing toxins while the toxins attempt to disintegrate the participant. However, the more that is absorbed, the greater the gains and rewards.[1] Duskleaf is very wary of the danger, believing Jake too low level for the attempt. However, Jake himself is drawn to the high risk, high reward nature of the Trial.

The Malefic Viper's version of the Trial for Jake contained a drop of the Viper's true blood -- and a bottle of vodka.
