"How fucking stupid were we when we said Haven was weak?"—Neveah
Neveah was one of the 40 D-grades who entered the Treasure Hunt through Haven. Originally, she’d belonged to a settlement under the thumb of an excessively greedy city lord—one whose obsession with control and profit pushed them to seek a better future elsewhere. That future, they hoped, was Haven.
At first, the city left them disillusioned. There was a general lack of high-level craftsmen, and there were long waiting times on anything from those who were competent.
She didn't think Miranda, Felix and Sultan were enough for the citys' reputation of strength but everything changed when Lord Thayne appeared—with A D-grade monster sitting on his head. In that moment, awe turned to fear. She and her party were frozen, overwhelmed by the sheer presence of beings who felt like forces of nature rather than people.
After she witnessed Jake slay the first Count of Blood she finally realized why Haven didn't need an army.
