The Jagged Edge Behemoth is a behemoth who represents the United Tribes. She is the Chosen of the Thousand-Edge Empress. The Behemoth has recently returned from an extended hibernation and does not consider Jake a peer,[1]instead implicitly asserting that those who reached B-grade prior to the integration of the 93rd Universe are superior.

Physical Appearance

Jake described the Behemoth as "a monstrous sight to behold" with an "imposing presence [that] was clear evidence of its role as an apex being among the United Tribes."[2] It is bipedal, with a rugged hide and fur on its back and shoulders that are studded with jagged spikes and glints when is shifts. The Behemoth has massive hands that end in three elongated, razor sharp claws that appear retractable.

The Jagged Edge Behemoth is roughly five hundred meters tall. Although Jake is eventually able to determine that the behemoth is female, there are not distinct biological markers to differentiate between behemoth genders.[1]Behemoths are bulky with incredibly thick hides.

In her humanoid form, she is a bit over two meters tall and built like a muscled amazoness, dressed in a sports bra and shorts.[3]

Personality

The Jagged Edge Behemoth has the arrogance typical of a top-tier combatant, particularly a Chosen. She is dismissive of Jake, treating him as an upstart, and is confident of her ability to defeat him given enough time.

Combat Style

The Jagged Edge Behemoth is a strength-focused brawler, a simplistic Path that allows her to stand at the apex of physical might, but at the cost of complexity. She doesn't have magic or tricks to throw an opponent off their game. For any opponent who never allows her the opportunity to land a solid blow, she has no good way to fight back.[3]

Story Summary

Seat of the Exalted Prima

Jake first encounters the Jagged Edge Behemoth when he is dispatched to backup William and Holstred in a three-way battle between forces from the Milky Way Galaxy and those from a galaxy led by the Nine Hells and another by the United Tribes.[1] While the Vermillion Archfiend was nominally concilliatory, the Jagged Edge Behemoth was much more aggressive and certain of its ability to defeat Jake in a battle.

Once the battle starts, it becomes clear that the Behemoth and the Archfiend have struck a bargain to team up against Jake.[4] While their team work is improvised, it is enough to make it difficult for Jake to focus his efforts, one always taking advantage if he tries to focus solely on the other. Eventually, when Jake begins to gain the upper hand, the Vermillion Archfiend summons a ten meter tall, red-skinned demon with tentacle-like feet and a divine aura, making it clear that the archfiend was invoking his patron.[5] The summoned demon blasts them all with flames that Jake can feel in both his body and soul. Nothing he does is able to douse the flames. He eventually realizes that to get rid of the flames, he must kill the caster.

At this point Jake attempts to appeal to the Behemoth only to learn that their deal is that the Archfiend kills Jake, dies of the skill himself, and the Behemoth will keep his territory safe until he can return after the month-long cool off period. Bemused, Jake focuses on temporarily incapacitating the Behemoth so he can focus on the archfiend. Once the behemoth was out of commission, the archfiend attempted to go on the defensive, but can't hold out against Jake's superior offense.

After the death of the Archfiend, the behemoth attempts to fight Jake a bit longer, convinced that her superior endurance will eventually allow her to overcome him with the momentum of her berserker skill. But she finds that without distraction of the archfiend, Jake is an exponentially more difficult opponent, capable of countering her attacks. Eventually, she stops fighting and questions how he can be so consistent. Jake truthfully answers that his Path is based on fighting beings much more powerful than himself, sometimes even of a higher grade. Being hit even once can result in severe injury, if not death. He can't afford inconsistency or mistakes.[3] Considering this, she finally admits that she doesn't see a path to victory and offers a surrender, even though she could probably escape. Jake assures her that she absolutely would not escape and ultimately accepts her surrender, pending the hammering out of details.

For the remainder of the competition, the behemoth and her territory serve as vassals of Jake, the Order, and the Milky Way Galaxy.

Abilities

The Jagged Edge Behemoth is a physical brawler who focuses on power over speed. Jake described her as "the apex of durability and pure bodily might."[6] When fighting, she utilizes:

  • Levitation
  • Rapid regeneration
  • Ability to shrink and condense her body down to around three meters tall
  • A Berserker skill that makes her stronger the more damage she takes[6]
  • A roar attack that serves as a soul attack
