Show/Hide

Shadow Rank: Awakened[1] → Ascended[2] → Transcendent → Supreme.[3]
Shadow Class: Terror.[1]
Shadow Fragments: (Refer to Nightmare's Progression).

Shadow Description: [This beautiful steed was tamed by the treacherous Lost From Light in the depths of a harrowing dream. The two Shadows battled across countless nightmares, shattering them all apart; neither was willing to give up, so in the end, the nightmares did.][1]

Shadow Attributes: [Swift], [Dark Destrier], [Dreadlord], [Dreamwalker].

[Swift]
Attribute Description: "This Shadow is especially swift and enduring."[1]

[Dark Destrier]
Attribute Description: "This dark horse was meant to be a shadow warrior's steed, and accompany its rider into battle. It is fierce, loyal, and knows no fear. Its speed, strength, and resilience grow when surrounded by darkness and shadows."[1]

[Dreadlord]
Attribute Description: "This Shadow's might grows the more he is feared."[1]

Nightmare was incredibly swift and enduring. He was also a war horse, bred to ride into battle without hesitation or fear. His two passive Attributes both increased speed, strength, and resilience — [Dark Destrier] when he and his rider were surrounded by shadows, and [Dreadlord] when the he inspired terror in the hearts of their enemies.[1]

[Dreamwalker]
Attribute Description: "This Shadow can travel through dreams."[1]

Shadow Abilities: [Flowing Shadow], [Mantle of Fear], [Nightmare], [Dream Curse].

[Flowing Shadow]
Ability Description: "This steed can dive into shadows and move through them with incredible speed."[1]

This ability is like Shadow Step without the teleportation part.[1]

[Mantle of Fear]
Ability Description: "This Shadow is capable of delivering a continuous mind attack around it that infects its foes with crippling fear."[1]

This ability is to radiate an aura of terror and could debilitate weaker enemies completely. Even if more powerful creatures were able to resist some of the effect, a seed of dread was still going to be planted into their minds. This was directly tied to the [Dreadlord] Attribute of Nightmare, which made him stronger the more he was feared.[1]

[Nightmare]
Ability Description: "This Shadow can create and subjugate nightmares. The more nightmares serve it, the more powerful it grows, both inside and outside dreams."[1]

Debut

Dormant Nightmares: [0].[1]

Current

Dormant nightmares: 287[4]
Awakened nightmares: 252[4]
Ascended nightmares: 455[4]
Transcendent nightmares: 6[4]

(Refer to Black Steed's Nightmares)

Nightmare's tyrant ability, one that allowed him to create minions, was meant to subjugate real nightmares (actual dreams). The more of them served him, the more powerful he grew. These nightmares seemed to possess a Rank of their own.[1]

[Dream Curse][1]
Ability Description: "This Shadow is a master of a lesser dream domain. It is capable of lulling living beings to sleep and imprisoning their souls in a labyrinth of nightmares. The souls destroyed within the nightmare maze feed the Shadow; the more powerful the Shadow grows, the faster and further the dream curse spreads."[4]

The Ability was initially not accessible.[1] After Ascension, the [Dream Curse], Nightmare's Terror Ability, was also unlocked.[2]

Nightmare's Dream Curse was a terrifying and insidious ability, with Nightmare's control over the dream labyrinth and the more terrified his victims were, the stronger he became. However, its power was limited by Nightmare's own strength, as he could only influence one castle and its surroundings as an Awakened Terror. As an Ascended Terror, Nightmare's reach would have increased. The souls destroyed within the Shadow's dream maze were consumed, making the shadow stronger.[4]

The Dream Curse was a terrifying and insidious power that spread unseen, infecting those who contracted it. Its influence was subtle and insidious, and by the time it was ready to cause nightmares, it was too late to resist.[5]

[Dream Curse] was described as an insidious and terrifying power that made Nightmare the master of a lesser dream domain, capable of lulling living beings to sleep and imprisoning their souls in a labyrinth of nightmares. Souls destroyed within that maze fed the Shadow, allowing Nightmare's power to grow stronger and the curse to spread faster and further. The Dream Curse spread like a plague, consuming its prey and subduing even beings stronger than its source, as it could subtly influence victims until their defenses weakened and they could no longer resist. Once lulled to sleep, the victims were trapped in inescapable nightmares, unaware of the attack until it was too late. Nightmare planted the seeds of nightmares into the hearts of living beings, harvesting them to create his own minions and build a legion of dreadful dreams to contain his victims. However, there were limits to this power, as Nightmare, being a Transcendent Terror, could not easily subdue or maintain control over all enemies indefinitely.[6]
