There are multiple soul perception potions that can be made, all of which should grant the person who drinks it soul perception permanently. Silverlake knows several of them. All of them except for the dirge moth chrysalises potion need various rare ingredients which are extremely hard or even impossible to gather.
All soul perception potions work on the same principle - they bring the imbiber to the brink of death, only to pull them back at the last moment. Reminescent of Alanic's "special training" for soul awareness, only more extreme. If the potion is made incorrectly, the imbiber is likely to die after drinking it.[1]
This method of obtaining soul perception takes between one to five days of unconsciousness for the imbiber once they have ingested the potion. Some people have been known to die of dehydration after drinking a soul perception potion in secret.
Dirge moth chrysalises potion
The most reliable and affordable potion for soul perception, developed and perfected by the Triumvirate Church before it leaked out of its hierarchy and ended up also being used in necromantic circles. The only drawback is that dirge moths only emerge to the surface for exactly one day every 23 years, and live as larvae the rest of the time. The potion can't be conserved safely more than 6 months, either. However, the abundancy of dirge moths once they emerge allows alchemists to practice the recipe as many time as they need to.[1]
Soulseizer chrysanthemum potion
This is the soul perception potion Silverlake made for Zorian. It needs a soulseizer chrysanthemum, a sample of a dangerous species of rabbits, and other such ingredients, although Zorian is skeptical that all of the ingredients Silverlake told them to gather are really necessary for the potion. It's probable that some of them are fake, but none of them are obvious imposters, as they are all somehow connected to soul magic in some way.
Silverlake had never made this potion prior to the time loop month, and her first try took her 4 hours to finish, although she claimed she could brew it in as little as 2 hours (not counting the ingredient-gathering part, which is the most time consuming of the process).
The sensation of drinking the potion was described by Zorian as reminiscent of the soulseizer chrysanthemum's soul-stealing move before his senses began to dim and he lost consciousness. [2]
