Lodestar Matron

The Lodestar Matron is described as tall, thin, and fully humanoid. Her eyes glow yellow with holy light and she has long, knee-length-hair that floats unpredictably in the air.^[1] She speaks with a voice that is not decidedly masculine or feminine, making her gender difficult to determine on voice alone.

The Lodestar Matron is referred to as 'Fourteenth of the Holy Light'. This means she was the fourteenth god to ever ascend in the Holy Church, making her one off the most ancient gods in both her faction and the Multiverse. She is not a combat focused god but rather has a path built on guidance, similar to the Augur of Hope. The Lodestar Matron has a very high position serving in the faction responsible for recruiting.^[1]

The Lodestar Matron possesses a bloodline that passively increases experience and records gained for anyone who is in her presence. Her bloodline does not require the recipient to remain in her presence to continue benefiting. Simply having ever been in her presence while aware of her abilities grants a permanent passive buff. However, it only works on those who view her as a spiritual guide.^[2]

The effects of her bloodline are more powerful for those that follow the Path of the Lodestar Matron or are holders of her blessing.

After Jake defeats Ell'Hakan, Jacob is deployed to capture the True Soul of the nahoom so that the Church can use its bloodline to produce descendants with his powerful variants. Jake strongly opposes this and is invited to negotiate a compromise. The Lodestar Matron appears in person because she is determined to acquire Ell'Hakan's Truesoul for uses that might grant the Church greater influence over their populations.

The Matron offers a number of conditions to Jake in exchange for being allow to keep the True Soul, including briefly resurrecting a husk of Ell'Hakan long enough to sire descendants with his bloodline and then delivering the husk to Jake to be killed in cold blood.^[2] When Jake refuses all offers, the Matron commands her fighters to apprehend Jake.

• Because Jake's bloodline makes him incapable of viewing anyone has inherently superior to him, the Lodestar Matron's bloodline abilities have no effect on him.
• Jacob notes that it is the Lodestar Matron's faction that pushed the goal of obtaining Ell'Hakan's bloodline at any cost. Jacob and the Holy Mother did not support this goal, but the Holy Mother views conflict as a part of path progress, so she did not intervene.^[3]
