Novels like Shadow Slave: what to read next

The useful question is not which book is “another Shadow Slave”, but what you want to keep from it. These four suggestions follow different parts of that appeal. They are reading directions, not a popularity ranking, and discuss only the premises.

If you want mysterious powers: Lord of Mysteries

Cuttlefish That Loves Diving’s novel follows Klein Moretti in a world of occult powers and Victorian-era technology. Try it if the unanswered questions around a power system matter to you as much as the next fight.

The change of setting is substantial: expect a different world and protagonist, rather than Sunny under another name. The first novel is listed as completed on Webnovel; a continuation is a separate work.

If you want growth through learning: Mother of Learning

Nobody103 puts the young mage Zorian inside a time loop. Knowledge can accumulate even when the calendar resets. It is a good direction if you like watching a hero learn the rules of a dangerous situation and use them more effectively.

This is magical education and a time-loop mystery rather than a journey through the Nightmare Spell. The author’s Royal Road publication is marked completed.

If you want a more playful time-loop story: The Perfect Run

Maxime J. Durand’s Ryan can create a save point and try again. Its superpowered city and comic tone offer a different setting for a resourceful protagonist facing dangerous people.

Choose it for experimentation with consequences and a change of mood. It is not a replacement for Shadow Slave’s dark fantasy atmosphere. The Royal Road version is marked completed.

If you want hunting and a visible build: The Primal Hunter

Zogarth begins with an office worker, Jake, thrown into a lethal tutorial. Our recommendation is for readers who want the next adventure to put more emphasis on skills, hunting and growing into a System-governed world.

It shares the broad appeal of progression fantasy. The opening puts Jake’s growing comfort in a dangerous new environment at the centre, while Sunny’s opening stresses survival with an unusual limitation.

Choose one reason, then try the beginning

For occult mystery, start with Lord of Mysteries. For learning through repetition, choose Mother of Learning. For a lighter voice and save-point experiments, try The Perfect Run. For hunting and character builds, try The Primal Hunter.

Use the opening chapters to test the voice and pace before committing to another long serial. Only The Primal Hunter from this list is currently in our library; the other links lead to the publications named above. Their language and purchase options are set by those platforms.
